Murray McMillan – Founder & National President Firebird Club Of Canada For Life
As Founder for The Firebird Club Of Canada, I had three goals in mind that pushed me to build a National Car Club. The Firebird Club Of Canada!
1. Promote The Firebird!
2. Bring Firebird Families Together To Share Our Passion!
3. To Ease The Suffering Of Sick Children If Only For A Day!
In 1982 at 30 Years Of Age, I Was Diagnosed With Cancer myself and I saw for myself the terrible stress and suffering Children were going through facing the uncertainty, the chemotherapy, and separation from their families. I would never forget that experience. Bandit Run Canada’s Inaugural Event – Was Held in 2018 With approximately 48 Firebirds Coming From All Over Canada in a Display of Unity and Caring to Raise Money For The “Make A Wish Foundation Of Canada”, formerly known as “The Children’s Wish Foundation Of Canada!” That first year we raised $5,650.00. In 2019 We Raised $6,500.00, in 2021 We Raised $13,708.00, in 2022 We raised $6700.00 and when I came back from an illness, in 2023 we raised $11.260.00. and in 2024 we raised more than $17,550.00 – That Totals more than $61361.00 – How Many Dying Children Got Their Wish Because Of Our Work?
Bandit Run Canada Is a “Two-Stage Car Event.” The first part is a, Police, and Fire Escorted Bandit Run, portraying The Bandit Chase, in the movie “Smokey And The Bandit,” through the Northumberland Highlands and along Rice Lake Scenic Drive. The Second Stage is The Firebird Nationals Car Show! In 2022, For The First Time I Invited Other Vehicles To Join us in the same way several different vehicles were seen in the Movie, helping The Bandit “Burt Reynolds,” evade Capture by Smokey “ The Sherriff”, played by “Jackie Gleason.”
Our event is Always Held On the 3rd Sunday of July every Year and Staging for Our Bandit Run begins at 10:30 Am Sharp, departing the Venue and then returning at approximately 11:15 AM to begin our show and Award Presentations.
Our Mission – To Continually Grow Our Event with a Goal Of Raising As Much Money As Possible so that we, along with your support, can, “MAKE LITTLE WISHES COME TRUE”
